Brief:

The principal author and developer of SEAWAT and coauthor of SEAWAT 2000 and SEAWAT v 4, published by the U.S. Geological Survey. SEAWAT has become one of the most widely used computer program for simulation of flow with variable density, saltwater intrusion and coastal aquifer management in the world. Also the author of two MODFLOW-based commercial computer programs: MODAIR, P3Dair.

Dr. Guo have more than 25 year experience in developing numerical models for groundwater flow and solute transport simulations. Specialties include groundwater system analyses, site characterization and remedial feasibility studies, site assessment and field investigation, contamination control and clean-up, development of conceptual and numerical models for water resource and contamination investigations, coastal aquifer management, aquifer storage and recovery (ASR), saltwater intrusion, model calibration and applications, design of pump-and-treat, water recovery (including extraction and injection wells) and soil vapor extraction systems, environmental impact analyses, quantitative analyses of hydrogeological data, air flow and heat transfer in porous media, flow with variable density, saline/fresh water interactions, and mining-related environmental problems.

Dr. Guo has worked in several countries around the world including United States, Saudi Arabia, China, British Virgin Island, Mexico, Brazil and Korea developing his hydrogeologist expertise, he has develop and apply MODFLOW and DHI’s integrated MIKE SHE models to assess the potential hydrogeological impacts of proposed mining activities in Southwestern Florida, also has done assessment of ambient conditions and design of outfall discharge systems using US EPA developed modeling tools (CORMIX). It’s important to highlight that Dr. Guo has experience also with the oil industry, transport process of oil-production generated brine leaking through disposal pits to the rivers and wellfields located down gradient direction and was investigated using numerical models. He worked on a different kind of projects such as field investigation, feasibility study and remedial design of a groundwater contamination remediation system for an abandoned landfill site.
